Abdun, 12, took his final school examination on a Braille typing machine.

He is the only blind student in the sixth grade at SLB state elementary school in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

The questions were printed in Braille, and he typed his answers in Braille.

"There were 50 questions I had to answer. I could answer them all because they were easy," Abdun told The Jakarta Post after the exam.

Like other elementary school students, Abdun must pass compulsory subjects such as Bahasa Indonesia, science and mathematics.

He took the exam at SDN 18 state elementary school, and was supervised by teachers from SDN 18 and SLB.

"Exam supervisors were present, but I wasn't nervous. I completed all the questions," he said.

Abdun was born in Balikpapan on June 5, 1995. His self-confidence and big ambitions are not stifled by his handicap.

"I want to be a film actor when I grow up. But now I want to study as best I can to attain my goal, despite my condition. I have never regretted my blindness, nor felt inferior because of it," he said.

Abdun is adept at playing keyboard and accordion, and is a fan of the popular bands Ungu and Peterpan.

He has won various religious arts contests and according to SLB Balikpapan principal Suprapti, he is considered a bright student.

"Abdun is a smart student. I'm sure he'll pass the examination," Suprapti said.
